Mumbai: Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt convicted in the Mumbai serial blasts case. Reportedly Sunjay has applied to the divisional commissioner for a 30-day for a parole once again.
Son of late actor-politician Sunil Dutt, 55-year-old actor Sanjay is in jail since January this year, when he returned from a furlough granted to him. Senior officials from the office of divisional commissioner confirmed they had received Sanjay Dutt’s parole application and it was being processed.
Since May 2013, this actor has been serving the remaining 42-months in Pune’s Yerwada Jail, of his five-year sentence for illegal possession of arms in a case related to the 1993 serial blasts, in which over 250 people were killed and several wounded.
Actor Sunjay had served 18-months of his five-year jail term in the past in 2007-08. From May 2013 to May 2014, he had spent over 118 days out either on parole or furlough, which was questioned by social organisations which so called that the government had moved swiftly for granting jail leaves to actor Sanjay Dutt as compared to others.
Bollywood actor Sunjay Dutt has apparently applied for a 30-day parole or furlough to the divisional commissioner. Reports suggest that senior officials have confirmed the parole application and the request is apparently under process.
Brother of politician Priya Dutt, Sanjay returned to jail after being granted furlough.
Sunjay Dutt was sentenced to 5-years imprisonment by the Supreme Court for illegal possession of arms in the 1993 Mumbai serial blasts case.
Since he had served 18 months in jail from 2007 to 2008, he was required to complete his remaining jail term.
