Independence Day: Resurgence is the sequel to the 1996 famous movie Independence Day. The film stars Jeff Goldblum, Bill Pullman, Judd Hirsch, Vivica A. Fox and Brent Spiner, reprising own their original roles, along with some new co-stars Liam Hemsworth, Jessie Usher, Maika Monroe, Sela Ward and William Fichtner. The film is scheduled for on June 24th, 2016 release globally.

Independence Day director and writer Dean Devlin along with Roland Emmerich had been start working in 2004 but due to some conflicts Emmerich stop the project. In 2009 Emmerich once again had plan to work on the suspended project with Dean Devlin. On June, 2013, it was announced that the script for the first sequel of Independence Day written by Emmerich and Devlin is completed. On May 29, 2014 it was announced that the script would be rewritten by Carter Blanchard. On November 26, 2014, Deadline confirmed that Fox had greenlighted the single film, and they were in talks with Emmerich to direct the film.
On January 27, 2015, casting for the film began by Fox offering the lead role to Liam Hemsworth. Charlotte Gainsbourg was in talks to join the film’s cast, revealed by THR on March 20, 2015. The filming of the Independence Day: Resurgence began on April 20, 2015.

As the team of Independence Day: Resurgence was originally going to be released this science fiction movie on July 3, 2015. On November 12, 2013, it was announced that the first sequel of Independence Day had been rescheduled for a July 1, 2016 release. On October 14, 2014, the distributor of the film 20th Century Fox changed the release date, now it is planned to be released on June 24, 2016.
